Sorry, but for a diesel, all you should ever run is Rotella. It's about the best oil out there for and it was designed to run in diesels. It's not that pricey either. We have been using it for over 5 years now, and the 2004 6.0 PS Ford we use it in, routinely sees well over eight thousand miles between changes. Last year when the head gasket blew, we went ahead and stripped the whole block down anticipating a huge sludge mess. It was practically spotless. Just something to keep in mind. I even run the 15W-40 weight in my 5.2 (gas) all the time. Never had an issue out of it. Do what you want, but in that diesel, you need at least a 15W-40.
I agree with you on the Rotella. Shell Rotella is a great oil. If anybody around here would sell Rotella T Full Synthetic in 10W-30, I'd use it in a heart beat. The difference is that Rotella is a HDMO or Heavy Duty Motor Oil. Most of the standard conventials and synthetics that you see are the regular PCMO or Passenger Car Motor Oil. HDMO has different additives and is designed to withstand tough conditions better than your regular oil. That is what makes it great for diesels. This is also better for air-cooled small engines. I use Rotella 30 in all of mine that I use (Except for the newer Kohlers...They need a multi-grade oil because of the Hydralic lifters; Rotella 5W-40 goes in them). You could go to the Bobistheoilguy forums for more info. Lots of great info on the slippery stuff that we all use and the filters that clean it.

Walmart sells Rotella Synthetic. I wouldn't run it in a gasoline engine (except a bike...it's ok there) due to different engine seals and whatnot but it's a fantastic diesel oil.
Are you kidding? Rotella is a heavy duty oil that will work in any motor. Just ask Laramie. He runs 15W-40 Rotella in his Ram. There is no reason that Rotella wouldnt work in a gas engine.

It's not a problem to run it in a gasser. In actuality, it probably does better than most other oils out there. There is a reason why Diesel guys love Rotella. It's because it's really the only oil out on the market still that is a low ash oil. Worse for the environment, but it doesn't allow for carbon build up like other conventional oils will.
If you think you have proof as to why putting rotella in my 5.2 is bad, then by all means post it up.
