Get the engine good and hot and shut her down and dig right in. spray em with some good penetrating oil first and let it soak in before warming up the engine. With any luck they will come right out. If you do break on off and there is a little bit sticking out after removing the manifold you could get a set of bolt extractor sockets which work phenominally. I have metric and standard and have used them extensively on ford trucks with their known broken manifold bolt problems and they have never let me down. If it breaks flush you are either going to have to become an acrobat and have a right angle drill or get flexible and try to reach through the fender well.

Are you asking about the bolts that hold the manifold to the engine? If so then yes that is what they are bolted to.

Tip- Provided you don't break any bolts gettng the stock mainifolds off. Use brand new hardware when installing the headers, don't be a cheep skate.

when i got my headers they came with some low grade bolts that were the wrong size so make sure they are good ones. i can't remember the site but there is one that has been discussed recently that carries locking header bolts and that is what you should get. the locking bolts will ensure that they stay tight which is what you want because its a pain to tighten a couple of the bolts on shorties.

Hit with some PB Blaster the night before. They should loosen up then.
