i'm pretty sure the camshaft position sensor (pickup coil) throws a cel when it is bad, mine did. mine wouldn't shut off when moving, just at idle. advance should have a tester for it.

well when i left work to get lunch today, i turned the key and it spun over, for a bit, the started, so i think my ckp(crank sensor) is going out. and it would make sense for everythign else cause the ckp tells the ecm(electronic control module) when to fire the coil.
There's really only two things that will cause a motor to just stop - either no spark or no fuel. I would check your fuel pump 1st. Ever die while idling ever? Or just while driving?
That issue could be caused by a few things:
- could be a faulty fuel pump
- could be a faulty coil as was mentioned.
- could be a failing ASD relay or due to a problem with an electrical circuit and the ASD is killing it. Although, to kill it while driving is definitely NOT what they intended as that is very dangerous.
- failing ALT

nope, no codes, no light. and when it died while driving, i poped the tranny in neutral, turned the key, fired right up. so not the alt, and it died once on me while idling but that was after like 45 mins of sitting there, and once it cranked up, it blew a sh**load of white smoke from burnt oil, and i know my plenum leaks a bit while idling, so i figured the oil just choked out the air, cause when i went to restart it, i had to hold the throttle open a bit, then it started.
its a relay in the power distribution box behind the battery.
the abbreviation stands for automatic shut down and it will do just that if either the relay goes bad or has a bad connection.
take your horn relay and put it in place of the asd relay and see if the truck will run right for ya.
the lid of the power distribution box has a diagram that tells where the relay is located. if the horn relay has corroded contacts then try the fog light relay instead.
