i am looking at the HUG 5409 HUGHES / EDELBROCK FI AIRGAP KIT does anyone know what kinda gains you will see from this? and will this be a direct bolt on install just bolt it on and go?

another question the huges flexplate.. will that net me a gain as in will it allow the motor o spin a lil faster?
use a stock modified throttle body..

may go with a set of rt heads ported and maybe a set or 1.6 roller rockers..... for now would like a cam but i dont want to go completly hog wild on this.


any one have an input on this.. the flex plate would be done when the tranny is put in.. but would it be worth it over the stock unit?


possibly the intake kit for sure... anyine know on stock stroke and compression how this would be?

id like to make a lil over 300 hp at the wheels on my truck more would be better but i think 300-350 would be good.


right now i have a custon exhaust system, a short ram intake system and a msd coil...... i was figuring on the hughes fi airgapper intake, a true cold air, a set of shorty headers a set of underdrive pulleys the hughes flex plate if any advantage over stock. a 180 stat and a heat rane colder plugs and eaither a superchips tuner or the sct....



ne one have thoughts on any of this.. right now money is tight so cam may not be in the books for now.

the stock manifold is very restrictive and usally you could get a plenum leak ,people say gains are huge

The Huges intake is overrated IMO. M1 is a lot cheaper for the same result.

seems to me the m1 is good in a different rpm altogeather.. i want good mpg but also good torque too

Yes, there is a loss in low end torque on a stock engine, the Hughes will have it too, it's noticeable but not drastic. A few supporting mods will get you back to having more low end than stock. The Mopar PCM was the last thing I added to my truck and it helped a lot combined with everything else, my truck now has way more low end than stock, in the rain I pretty much have to let the clutch out with no throttle to keep from spinning, never had that problem stock and the M1 pulls like no tomorrow on top.

Until someone post dynos of how the Hughes doesn't have a low end torque loss on a stock engine like the M1 does that everyone claims, the comparison dynos shows it performs the same as an M1.

awsome.. so the m-1 should be a bolt on then with no other things to put on? or do i need to convert to the 4bbl would like to do that and the modified stock throttle body.... does this also eliminate the belly pan to and the dreaded gasket failure?

Th 2bbl M1 uses the stock throttle body. You do need the "install kit", it's basically some metal spacers for the fuel rail mounts and some wire and connectors to extend the IAT wire.
Yes it does eliminate the plenum gasket.

You can typically find used M1s for $450 or less, install kit is like $60 and gaskets are like $30, so you save at least $60 over the AirGap.

does hughes sell the m-1 for my truck? alls i see are ones for converting to a 4bbl

Doubt hughes sells the M1 since it competes with their manifold. Search dodge forums with members that have 5.2s and 5.9s and you'll find 2bbl M1s for sale.
People can and do use the 4bbl one with a 2bbl adapter.
Fir example, here's a 4bbl M1 with 2bbl adapter and install kit for $400...
