Removing factory running boards and fender flares.
So I have been reading where a bunch of guys are debadging their truck. I would like to do this at some point but my first task at hand is how to remove my sport running boards and fender flares. I started to take off the rear one and they are just held on by screws. No biggie. But after I got it all the way off some of the mounting holes are rusted and where the flare sat the paint is now like a black. Any ideas on how to clean up the paint and repair the holes? Here is what the truck looks like now. You can see the running boards and the flares.

No Way!? You serious? I thought it was a factory option? ok any ideas? On how to clean up the body that has turned colors underneath the flares? Or how to keep the holes from rusting?

Those running boards were made and installed on your truck by a conversion company. The truck would be made, trucked to the company, then sent to the dealer.
The paint under the boards hasnt changed colors, but rather the rest of the paint has been faded by the sun. Here is a Professional way to get the paint shiny again: http://www.s10forum.com/forum/f74/re...e-pics-276129/
Wait!? Flares were Factory?! Its basically costing me an arm and a leg to find a set for mine! I love my Truck, don't get me wrong, But I don't feel like dumping in 500 for a set of Flares when I only work at a gas station! Haha.
