You made me think..your right..I should order the part from the dealer to be
safe.. this was close to the original one but was not it..and I have seen the
cotter pin but my truck did not have that.

So...I better get on it tomorrow..I'm not about to loose my life over this..
as it is California LA traffic is dangerous enough..I don't need to add to the
possibilities..

i don't know if yours has a cotter pin or a dimple. but make sure you lock it on one way or the other.

do you know what i'm talking about on the crush dimple? its where the shaft has a slot, and the nut has a steel ring out on the inner edge. after you've torqued the piss out of it, you use a punch to bend the ring into the shaft slot. it locks the nut onto the shaft so it can't back off.

compare the side you're working on to the other side.

I searched all over for the nut and no autoparts store had it. Said its a dealer only..
