By making enough power to be able to spin the tires with out the use of a brake. If my 5.2 will do it, then any other magnum V8 can as well.

Oh, quit sneaking around in stealth mode, you lose that cover when you post.

You didn't answer my question. Were not talking about squeeling tires, the OP was talking about a "burnout" Care to try again?

And yes, I found the feature a year ago when I was looking the the options on the forum, I thought it was neat at the time and never changed it back. You can change it back for me if you'd like. Oh wait... nvm

I know what the OP wants to do. If done correctly, you wont move all that much. Once you lose traction, you aren't going anywhere. Besides he only wants to stay in one place for 1 to 2 seconds. If we were talking 30 seconds plus, then yea, you need to apply the brakes, but not on a 1 to 2 second pull.

Now who needs to try again?

You need to try it again. You know what... I'll fix it for you. He asked to spin the tires "and stay in one place for a couple seconds", but you said yourself that if done correctly, you won't move that much. Moving and not moving are two different things... so... that means that all of those people you called an idiot for telling him to use the brake, arn't an idiot after all.

Your Stomp And Go (SAG) method does not always work on dry pavement and thats why we all use the brake. You obviously have an open diff if your getting a few seconds out of it, but the OP may have a limited slip. Who knows? but if he does your method isn't going to work at all.

I was going to ask how to do a 28 second burnout since you only need a brake for 30 seconds plus, but I think your getting the bigger picture by now young grasshopper.

For the sake of further debate, OP, just get line lock

There is a difference between answering his question and giving him the answer he needs. Most of the guys here gave him the answer to his question. I think Laramie was a little bit riled up when he used the term "idiots". IMO, what I think he was trying to get at is the fact that you guys didn't give him the answer the OP needs to hear. Squirrels did in a sideways way, Laramie hinted at it even more. But the answer he needs was never really thrusted into his face. Here it is:

Don't do burnouts using the brake-stand, neutral drop, or any other similar method. The transmissions in these trucks are weak enough and wear out during normal use... abusing them like this will kill them even faster. Thats not to mention all the other drivetrain components and brakes that this abuse will damage.

pcfixerpro... very nice job in twisting words. You know what Laramie was talking about, he knew what you were talking about, and then you went after semantics.

A proper burn out is done by simply flooring the gas, no brakes involved. If there isn't enough power to do it, find ways to get the power. Although, tires matter as much as power. Some tires are easy to break lose, others have superb dry traction and will launch you very easily, not giving you the slightest burn out. Even this type of "proper" burn out is hard on the truck, let alone the "improper" ones.

Thats all fine and dandy, but since when is it mandatory to apply a warning label to every posts? DodgeRam07, the first poster told him in the beginning not to neutral drop, and brake stands etc arn't good as well, and then ... told him how to do it. Was a great response. Aim followed in and gave his post. I then offered my variant, as well as some others following me. The part that I have a problem with was Laramie calling our members idiots for using the brake which was completely out of line because it is a legitimate answer. I do take offense when you call members I appreciate, an idiot (DodgeRam07, Aim, iwhitne, and the new guys I don't know yet). Sure I may taken it a bit far with the nit-picking, but everything I corrected of Laramie's was truthful.

Its not mandatory, but in this case its a very good idea, as the action the OP requested a "how to" for is a bad idea.

DodgeRam07 did say it was a bad idea, but didn't say why. That first. Second of all, I disagree with you, it wasn't a great response. "You shouldn't kill anyone, but here is how you would do it..." Really?

No offense, DodgeRam07, or anyone else who did tell the OP about how to do the "unrecommended" burn out. I just disagree with you guys. Just my opinion: If you disagree, or think something is a bad idea, you shouldn't really share how to do it with others. If they want to do it bad enough after they've been warned, they can figure it out on their own. In the real world, telling someone something is a bad idea but still telling them how to do it opens yourself up to liability.

Maybe the "idiots" comment was out of line, maybe not. The fact is, though, that rather than saying what you just did...

You came out with a counterattack and called him "ignorant". Then began the mini-almost-flame war about who meant what. If you had posted "They are not idiots, they answered his question. You are out of line", or to that effect, this would have ended a whole lot differently and, IMO, a lot better.

To Nedman: hope you got your answer out of all this.

pcfixerpro is right. The post was created to answer his question, not comment on others. You answer his question, and that it all. No need for all this B.S. about who is right and who is wrong and who's answer is better.

On the other hand, doing simple upgrades and stomping on it is my favorite method. I have also heard mud tires or more off-road like tires are more slick on pavement than all terrains. Just to be safe, just stomp on it...
