Flowmaster 40 series too quiet??

Today I had a flowmaster 40 series 3in inlet, 2.5in dual outlet installed on my 97 dodge ram with daul pipes extending out the back. I have a high flow converter on there too with stock exhaust manifolds. Am I just used to my exhaust being really loud? Because it's not as loud as the cherrybomb glasspack that I had installed and cutoff before the rear axle before going with this new configuration. I know that there have been alot of threads on this topic, but I was just wondering if there is anything louder than the 40 series.

actually...just abut everything is louder than a flowmaster 40. the 40 series is the SUV series muffler. good low rumble, quiet on startup, and almost mute at highway speeds.

i have to flowmaster 40 with the same setup as yours. i had headers, 3.5in from the header, true duels, no cat, warlock muffs with turn downs on a 85 bronco with a 400 modified...THAT WAS LOUD...like obnoxious loud.

i love the 40 series.

there are a lot of things that are louder. the FM super 44 i believe, the race pro pypes muffler, cherry bombs muffler (maroonmonster has one), no muffler, glass packs etc....

i had the same muffler on my truck when i got it and i cut it off and put a y pipe with two thrush glass packs in place of it. then later on i cut the glass packs off and put straight pipes in place of them.

After spending the $300 bucks to get it put on, it sounds purdy damn good, but I'm thinking of having the muffler gutted on down the road, what do ya'll think? I want the aggressive deep tone that my glasspack had, but now I have duals

why not just y pipe and straight pipe it like i did? i don't know how a hollow muffler sounds but just pipes sounds pretty good to me (much more aggressive than the glass packs).

I'm gonna drive it for a while like it is, and then gut the muffler so technically i "have" one because the cops are always looking for something else to write a ticket on. My buddy has straight pipes on his Z71 and it's almost obnoxious with a highflow convertor. The only reason I'd gut the muff is because it acts as my y pipe (single in, dual out)

i've got that covered too.

i went to a muffler shop up the street and got one of his junk mufflers that was sitting outside the shop. then i used a sawzall with a 12" blade and sliced it in half long ways and gutted it out. then i welded the empty shell over my y pipe.
it was funny the last time i got an inspection because the guy looked at the 1/2" gap in the back of the muffler and said
"i think thats gonna leak right there"
i said "naw it ain't"
then he lowered the truck and started it and was standing there with a dumbfounded look on his face because he couldn't understand why it didn't leak.

i would say go with a high flow cat, it will make your truck louder and run better ... magnaflow sells them for 85 there worth it

or you could go with a cherrybomb extreme or flowmaster 10 there both single chamber mufflers

or you could go the cutout route with a switch to have your exhaust open or closed whenever you like

...or you could just turn it down with a 1.5" pipe just past the manifold.
