Default 1995 Ram 5.2 computer and engine upgrades?

Hello everyone , Please excuse me if this isn't in the right place I am a new user. I have a 1995 Ram with a 5.2 a 5" Rough Country lift , 33" tires , K&N Intake and throttle body spacer. I have Just installed 4:56 gears and am getting ready to get her muddy. The next stage of modification I would like to do is the top end. I want to put a cam and do the heads , but was told that it will not run correctly because of the stock computer. Does anyone have any info on this? Thank you all in advance.

just depends how big of a cam,, if you are going small of could just get 1.7 roller rocker, in a way i will give you more lift..little cheap and aot less work

Thanks for your reply.....cost isn't really an issue as my father can get me the parts at just above cost....and the labour is free as he runs an engine machine shop...only thing is ...he doesn't do computers. I was told it would high idle at times for no reason and burn too much fuel with minimal power increase unless there was something done with the computer....any truth to this? I know the 95 computer system is very primitive to the newer trucks out there. Thanks again in advance

Only way to "tune" an OBD1 computer is to send it off and have it flashed, so it can be a time consuming ordeal. Some cams are more computer friendly than others. It will certainly run but not optimally.

Thank you! I was also wondering about the Jet Performance Modules. Some people have told me they work great ...others say they are not worth the money on my old girl as they are limited to what they change.

On another Note I would just like to say that this site Kicks Ass..Thanks Everyone!
