OK, Evidently I was wrong about the Dodge 1800# They finally called back to say they would reimburse the $700 dealer charges except for a $200 co-pay. I have to contact the dealer and set it up. I guess its not too bad a deal...

update on my issue. i did as others have done and called the #. i've seen everything from a $50 deductible (what they call it) to the one they offered me, $300. the notable i get is that the worse it is the less they charge you to fix it.

mine was only starting to crack. maybe if i bumped it some to make it worse they'd have done it for $200 or something.

but they did fix it and didn't give me any hassle about it. in my experience everyone was nice but it just took them a full day to "verify" it and i had to rent a car for the 2nd day. it does rattle more but i'll take it back and have them lok at it.

Cannot believe this thread is here, I didnt think anyone else had the problem but us really. i'm new here, and my '01 ram has been taken really good care of, YET there is still 2 BIG cracks in the dash above the ac controls. my uncles '01 ram is cracked in the exact same spot. this has to be a defect.

I also have an '01 Dodge Ram with dashboard cracks. There was one small crack that appeared last winter up near the windshield. Just recently, another crack appeared - longer and more obvious than the first. My husband found this site while he was looking for a replacement dash. Seems, like us, most people on this site thought it was just their truck with the problem. Has anyone ever contacted the corporate office with a comprehensive list of problems listed on this site?

Sad to say I too am a (disgusted) owner of a 2000 Ram (like to show Dodge exec's exactly where to "ram" it) and lost the better part of my dash. First was the cracks, then the "cave-ins". Had my brake lights go out and my mechanic said it could be related to "all those sharp chunks of plastic that vibrate on the wires while driving" that literally took the wiring insulation off causing a short!!
I thought I was SOL when the dash started to crack then realized how far reaching the problem is. I cringe to think of all these other Dodge owners who paid the $700+ dollars to replace the dash.
Does anyone know if these replacement dash's are any better? Also anyone have repeated issues with having to replace hub assembly's on these wrecks?

We are the orginal owners of a 2001 Dodge Ram1500. We bought it in Feb 2000. It has 86000 miles as of today. I called last year to Chrysler to see about the dash. We had one crack that showed up from no where. Chrysler told me to check my warranty. Of course it was paid off and no longerwarranty. I now have 3 large cracks in the dash.
I was looking yesterday to see about a replacement and ran into all the informatin on the internet. Seen the Florida broadcast too.
I called Chrysler again , the 1-800 number everyone is posting. After about 20 min. on the phone and 3 people later I was told that they could not assist me. I called the dealership and they told me that they where not familier with any problems with the dashes. I ask are you saying that they don't have a problem. Chris then told me that he wasn't saying that. He was saying that if there is... No one had been complaining or bringing them in. That suprised me
Anyway I emailed the local television company to see if they would investigate it. Maybe people aren't bringing there vehicals in. Maybe if everyone spreads the word and gets this to out, we might get something done.
Chrysler declined to help in my replacement of the dash. I was quoted $700.00 on the dash plus labor cost. It will have to wait for now.
I was really suprised at Dodge Chrysler for this. No help.[]
Oh and my brother has a 2000 Dodge Ram Quad that also has cracks in the dash.

I came here about a different problem but was surpried when I saw this thread. My 2001 Ram dashhas cracks too. About9 months ago I was bummed when a 2 inch crack opened up in the front dash. About a week later a foot-long crack opened up on top, shortly after by a second foot-long crack in the oppsite direction. There hasn't been any change for a while now. I fugured one crack in each direction "released the pressure" and it wont crack any more, but I am probably wrong. I feel luck now after seeing some of the photos of people with holes.

I am surprised about the people saying they had broken cup-holders. My are fine despite jamming a too-big 7-11 Double Gulp in it each day. I have always complemented the cup holders.

Thanks for the posting the 800 # and other info! I was searching the web a couple of weeks ago for a replacement dash for my2001 Dodge 4X4when I came across this discussion, was not a member at the time, but am now. I called the 800#, made a complaint thatthe top of mydash hada football size hole and was splintering to pieces, they gave me a reference number and told me to take it to my local Dodge dealer to have them take a look at it. Dodgeagreed to cover the replacement less me paying a $150 copay. Also if there are any of you that have expeirenced having your air conditioning cut back when you put a load on it, like going up a steep hill, then as soon as the load comes back off the ac begins to blow again, the problem is a check valve, dealer replaced for $50 bucks.
