Yeah, I agree with you there. At this point, unless there's some way to prove this is a safety issue (not likely) I doubt Dodge can be forced to do anything about it and with their current financial situation they certainly aren't going to do something this potentially expensive on their own. Even if it is the right thing to do.

I have a few small cracks, Before it gets worse I am going to go this way. Its a way beter product with a great reputation from a company you can trust, not some fly by night molded abs guy.
I have used the product before on my 79 Chevy. Bonfd it over teh existing dash. Holds small cracked peices together. Pretty happy with the way it camoe out on my chevy. Every dodge here in Alabama and some chevys and ford have cracked dashes, Some very severely.

If youre going to invest 100-200 on a way to hide your problem, why not save a few more pennies and buy the $300 fix like jasonw suggested. Its LIFETIME WARRANTIED and it actually fixes the problem.
My dashboard was cracking since 2004 and progressively got worse. I finally had to do something in 2009 when my A/C evaporator core went (that's another story !!!!). They couldn't remove the dash because it was falling apart. I never liked the look of my Dashmate cover and I definitely wasn't going to give Dodge the business and buy another crappy dashboard. So I shopped around and found a company called Plastic Parts Inc. in Pompano Beach, FL (954-974-3051). They make the entire Dashboard for $250 and garranty it for life. Email me and I can send you some pic's.
I hope your dash does not crack but if it does it will be from the two bolts close to the windshield on the Passenger side behind the airbag.
You are 100% correct on how it starts. I have a 2001 1500 and my cracks started at the same place. The truck was about 4 years old when it started. Almost like Dodge made sure it would last through the warranty period and then go to pieces. I still don't understand why Dodge won't own up to having a problem and treat their customers better. As bad as they are hurting today, I don't feel sorry for them on bit.
I own a 2003 Ram 2500 Quad 4X4 with 47,000 miles. I use a sun reflector and my dash is also cracking and getting worse each month. My question is, Has Chrysler helped the owner with the cost of repairs?
