Man I am so shocked to see so many people with the same problem I have. The dash on my 01 Ram looks like the grand canyon and now I am having electrical, speakerand air conditioning problems associated with it. Thanks so much for the info on the coverlays. I'll get to that tomorrow. First thing I'm gonna do now is go piss on that worthless truck and promise myself never to buy another Dodge. I do file a complaint and hope it works!!!

Cracked dashes are a result of cheap resin used in the plastic they are made from. Source was and is the far east....any guesses? Lots of web sites cover this and thousands of owners have the same problem..My dash is cracked so bad as to be usless. I know of no source for replacement other thatn the dealerships....throwing good money at the defective part...see above. Is there a solution?

I dont know how many of you realized this when you bought your trucks, but the cracking dashboard is totally avoidable.

The day I bought my truck in 01 I ordered a dashmat to protect the dashboard.

To this day, my dashboard underneath the mat is still Cherry.

Before you go and crucify Chrysler over this, realize that you had the power to prevent this, but chose not to.

Sorry but I have to disagree with you on that one. If you have one of the cheap dashes from Dodge that crack, then there is no amount of parking in the shade, squirting Armor All on it or covering it up that is going to keep it from cracking. If you have an 01 and it hasn't started to crack by now, then you are one of the lucky ones that don't have a cheap dash. It isn't because you covered it up.
