i'd get one if i was doing a lot of sand racing too... get the intake out of where the sand was being thrown up.

not just for the water ya know.

as for swamping the truck by tailpipe... it is possible. just need to get the water pressure to be equal or greater that of the exaust. if the guy backed his truck that far into the water that his tires were off the ramp... he's going to be having more problems than just having the tail pipe in the water...

my friends used one of those old chevy astro vans to tow a boat and that tailpipe was ALWAYS underwater doing that.

come to think of it i think the tailpipe rusted out on the thing because of that....

i'd just run a shacker hood or a simular ram air hood like that.. when you hit deep water.. it never comes over your hood it shoots outward.. only way you'd suck in water is if you went threw 5 feet deep holes and had water over your hood.. if that happens you might as well leave it there

you also need to make sure there is no way the snorkel or hood can injest water in anyway. that means you cannot just put a hood scoop on and have it run straight into the throttle body. otherwise rain and any other water sources could damage your motor. you need to have it set up so that there a way for the water to drip out or escape somehow before it reaches the motor

He doesn't hang around on this site too much anymore. You'd probably have better luck shooting him a pm on pavementsucks.com

oh, and for the record I've had my tail pipe pretty far underwater (granted I wasn't idling) and it didn't stall me out. But i've seen it happen to cars before.
