Man, I need a site with these little things for sale; Like bolts, gaskets, hoses. I would like to replace ALL the gaskets and what not, though I know at this point it's not worth it, BUT where is a good site to get these little things? or should I just stick to Advance and NAPA?

I got the Hughes plenum kit and the intake gasket kit.. I think the intake kits comes with the bolts. I checked the bar code on my PCM...My PCM is on the passenger side fire wall...grey rectangular box with three electrical harnesses connected to it?????? has bar codes on it...nothing saying "authorized...etc..etc..." So I'm guessing its OK....??? If needed.. I can snap a pic of it and post....never heard of the "death flash" until now.. but I am very new to the forum so its all a huge learning experience to me. Got some questions on resetting the PCM, and the crank sensor mod I just heard about... I'll post a new thread on those.. thanks for all the great info guys..
PS.. it will be a bit until I do the plenum..( its not here yet ) but when I do...are there any pics I can try to take that people are asking for the most?? I know the DYI on this is pretty well covered..I for one will be doing the split gaskets for the first time.. using tube gasket stuff ( Ultimate Gold I think?? ) in the corners.. I would have really liked to been able to see it done right before trying to do this myself... maybe a few pics on mine will be useful...even if I mess it up...[:@]it could be used for a.." DONT DO THIS " thread???
thats awesome to hear. i am curious as to what kind of oil you use though. i am running mobil one synthetic 15w 40 and i have been getting a lot of pinging lately.
I think I may try this stuff. My 96 with the 318 has 209k on the odometer and everything is bone stock(engine and tranny). It started to run rough at idle, burn about a quart of oil every 1500 miles and it lost about 1.5 mpg all about the same time. I replaced all of the sensors on the throttle body, MAP, IAC, TPS just a few months ago so I doubt that any of those are causing rough idle problems. This probably hass seemed to get avery slowly a littleworse as time goes by.
I suspected that the rings were starting to go and I probably had low compression in at least one cylinder. I think I will go and buy a compression gauge and a bottle of this stuff and see what happens.

Not to open up a whole oil debate here, but where do you live that you use 15w40? Mobil 1 = good choice. If you are in a colder climate, you should probably be using 5w,or even the newer 0w if you can find it. The 40 is ok if you drive long enough to get it warm this time of year. Unsolicited 2 cents worth.
You sure your plenum isnt leaking cowboy?? Sure has all the symptoms. Mine is getting worse by the day...stomp the throttle just to get out of peoples way and you can hear the motor trying to breath through the vacuum leak...I really need to get this done... but to stay on topic here.. the restore did work some.. at least it felt alittle better for awhile..but really cant judge now till things get fixed.
Another product that i have used in cars from my 66 Stang, 94 Supra, 96 Nissan and various other cars is Rislone. Was pointed to it by a couple differant people including a college mechanic instructor and a Mercedes Certified Mechanic. I might give the other stuff a try though. I think on Page 2 someone was asking about having someone do a MPG check with a coupleRams before and after. Well since mine is bone stock right now, as i just got it, with the only mod being Bosch Platnium spark plugs i will do a before and after for it. In fact as i build it up i will do a before and after check. probably be next weekend with the results and i will go through 3/4 of a tank or so to give it a decent measurement.
As for the people that said that thier oil filters got all gunked up after using a oil addative.... just a speculation here but mabye the cleaner dislogged alot of deposites that were in various spots throughout the system and of course it would get cought up in the filter.... kinda like doing a chemical cleaning tranny flush on a high mileage tranny [sm=noooo.gif]
