Default Headlight Wiring?? HID

I am sorry I tried to look but found nothing but I bought a cheap Xentec HID Kit and went to try an hook it up on my 2001 Dodge Ram 2500 but could not get them to work I had a Red Wire and I Black Wire ( Hot and Ground ) but when I try to hook them up to the stock harness and turn the switch it doesnt turn on but the 3 wires are Red/White-Purple?/Purple?. So is any of those the ground? but if I take the ground wire and ground it to the truck and plug the red wire to the purple it will turn the light on but if I switch the switch it doesnt turn it off it just stay on constant but now if I take these headlights to my 1995 Dodge Ram 1500 its headlight harness has 3 wires Red/Something?/Black if I plug black into the black the the red into whatever the middle color is ( I forget it was dark and late ) They work when I pull the ****.. so my question is how the heck to I get these suckers to work on my 2001 without plugging the red wire into the purple then running the ground wire up to my gab to a toggle switch to ground it to turn it on lol... Please Help

Ok, on the 01:

Left side:

Violet wire: Power feed from PDC.
Red/Orange: High beam circuit. Heads off to dimmer switch.
Violet/White: Low beam circuit. Heads off to dimmer switch.

Right Side:
Violet/Red: Power feed.
Other two wires are same color/purpose.

I know on a lot of the aftermarket lights, they are wired wrong from the factory..... Figure out which wire is which, and set them up correctly. Should make it work right.

what I am saying is where would the ground wire go? because if I ground the wire to my truck and plug the red wire into the violet wire it will turn on but never turn off.

Power comes from the PDC. The headlight switch provides ground. Yeah, seems backwards to me too.

ok so I plug the ground into the violet wire and then the red wire into the violet/white because the hid kit I bought was only for lows because those are still brighter than my stock brights lol

You need to rewire the bulb female end to match whatever the HIDs are wired for IE 9007 or 9004.

yeah the hid kit just has two wires hanging there with a plastic adapter I plug them into to then plug into the harness so I was messing with it by just putting the prongs into the harness to try an figure out the setup and thought I tried every possible connection lol I will try here in a while after I get off work

Are these bulbs polarity specific? For a 'normal' circuit, yeah, I don't see any problems, but, on the dodge, where things are a tad backward, power (violet, or violet/red) would go to the ground terminals, Red/Orange would go to high beam terminal, and Violet/White to low beam...... and things should work as advertised.
