I have a 01 Durango with the 4.7 engine and it just started to stall at stops. Not all the time, but enough to make it a pain. Read several posts on here and replaced the IAC and cleaned the throttle body. It worked for almost a day and then it started stalling again. It also seems to hessitate or bog when you accelerate but again not all the time. Any suggestions would be great.

 

Check the battery and the battery connections/cables. If the computer isn't getting sufficient power due to a weak battery or poor connection problems like that can occur.

 

The battery has already been replaced.

 

Also, just before it shuts off when you come to a stop you can see the RPM's come up and then it shuts down.

 

What about the battery connections; are they nice and clean (both at the battery and at the relay box) and is there corrosion wicked up through the cables?

 

Just got back in and saw your post. I'm going to check the connections and the cable. I also have another Dodge that has a good battery in it and swap it with the one in the "D" and give that a shot. If at least to confirm if the battery is OK or not. Just for the heck of it would the TPS have anything to do with it?

 

The tps could possible be part of the issue.

 

All right, did all the things I talked about and nothing has changed. Tried different battery-still stalled sporadically. Tried new TPS and it seemed to make it worse. Put the old one back in. It only does it when its in gear and not all the time. If I pull up to a stop and kick it into neutral it doesn't shut off, which is really not what I want to do all the time. I really think as with most things it is simple. The difficulty is in finding it. By the way, thanks for all your help. Was going to clean the throttle body again just in case I missed something.

 

Did you reset the computer when you replaced the tps?

 

I disconnected the battery for about 30 seconds when I replaced the TPS.
