Default Replacing radio 98 ram 1500

Hey all just getting started here, hoping to do some interesting threads, for some things ive learned and done with my truck! However; I am interested in replacing the radio in my truck, but before I take it all apart I would prefer to know how big the actual radio is! Is it possible to get the dimensions for a 98 ram 1500 sport (auto) radio?

Thanks!

Why are you concerned about the size? You need to replace it with a simple single DIN aftermarket radio. Go to best buy and get the install kit and wiring harness and bang bang you're good to go. The guys at best buy can tell you exactly what wiring you'll need and which install kit too so that the radio will fit into the space left by the factory radio.

I think its 1.5 DIN, so if you wanna stick something a bit larger in there, don't go any bigger than that.

You can get an adapter to put a 1 DIN radio in a 1-1/2 DIN slot.

I used one like this;

A CD case fits in the slot (or my iPhone5).

Aw thanks guys. I was not aware of the "sizing" din but after a few google searches I understand now. Seems like I am looking for a single din flip out radio, any recommendations? Either model or brand? Looking to stay as cheap as possible but would not mind one that has gps ability. Any thoughts or recommendations would be appreciated!

if you want a good flip out radio, then forget about it being cheap. Pioneer, Alpine, and Kenwood all have models out I believe but they're in the 700-1000 dollar range....jvc and some other off brands are out there but they're crap from what i hear. I have an alpine (non-flip out, regular single din) and it works great with my ipod and everything...couldnt be happier with it.
