Default Need Help With Full Tune Up!

*UPDATED 7/30/13* GO TO LAST POST GUYS!

I'm getting ready to do a tune up on my Dodge since it doesn't have any power and bad mileage. Plus, i haven't did a tune up ever since i had the truck. I did some odds and ends but that's about it.

114,400 miles on the Dodge.

I have some stuff picked out for what i want to use and i need some opinions. I know everyone is going to have different opinions because you guys' might of used different things, but i just want to know how this setup is or if there is anything else i need to buy.

I already sent some of you a message asking about stuff but i got alot of different opinions and figured I'd just start a thread. I also read alot of the polls and searched around a bit before posting this.

I'm just going to copy and paste the name of the parts or links of the items I am ordering from Rockauto and Summit.

To start the list...

Spark plugs: (Rockauto)

NGK Part # 4291 {#ZFR6F11} V-Power

Wires (Summit):

http://www.summitracing.com/parts/su...model/ram-1500

Cap and Rotor: (Summit)

http://www.summitracing.com/parts/du...model/ram-1500

Plenum: (Ebay)

http://www.ebay.com/itm/DODGE-JEEP-ALUMINUM-PLENUM-PLATE-BELLY-PAN-318-360-5-2-5-9-MANIFOLD-REPAIR-KIT-/200925142814?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item2ec8125f1e&vxp=mtr

Felpro Plenum Gasket: (Rockauto)

FEL-PRO Part # MS95462

Intake Manifold Bolts: (Rockauto)

FEL-PRO Part # ES72169

By-pass Hose: (Rockauto)

GOODYEAR Part # 63333 I.D. 0.620"; Length 17"

Cloyes Timing Set: (Rockauto)

CLOYES Part # C3028X Incl. Cam Sprocket; Double Roller Chain; Heavy Duty Timing Set

Do i need anything else, do i not need something i posted, or do i need to swap something out? I'm trying to get a list together of what to order here in the beginning of June so i can make my truck run like new again. I would like to keep my ordering list from Rockauto and Summit if i could.

Timing cover gaskets. You want the one WITHOUT the repair sleeve.

Oil and filter. Couple gallons of coolant. (don't get the pre-mix stuff... waste of money)

Does the plenum gasket come in an intake set? As you will need intake gaskets as well.

Tube of RTV sealer. (for the corners of the intake, and where the timing cover meets the oil pan.)

I think there is a rather complete list in the Plenum sticky thread as well.

Is this what i need then dealing with the timing cover gasket? http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/more...658&cc=1095735

And i already got new oil, filter, and I'll make sure to get more coolant.

The plenum gasket doesn't come with an intake set so would this be what I'm looking for? http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/more...634&cc=1095735

Timing cover: Yep, that's the one.

Intake set: Yep, note that it also comes with a plenum gasket.

It's a fun job, prolly take the better part of the day, what with cleanup and everything.

Enjoy!

Alright thanks HeyYou, I added them two parts to my buying list!

I also was reading the plenum sticky and it said it was recommended to replace the front o2 senser and seafoam the gas tank and engine, so I'll take that into consideration.

If you still have the catalytic converter you'll want to address that soon too...

Ooops. Yep, Front O2 sensor is a GREAT idea. If your cat is clogging up, time to deal with that as well.

What's a good brand of o2 senser to get and are the front ones called "Upstream sensors?" And I plan on getting a magnaflow high flow converter soon with shorty headers.

You don't know if there is a trailer or not behind there!

What you are describing is fairly major maintenance. Since you are planning to swap the timing chain set, might want to look into adding a timing chain tensioner (MOPAR Performance part# P5007709). In addition, take a good look at your water pump to ensure it's in good shape and not leaking out of the weep hole. Since the front cover is coming off, great time to check the water pump closely.
