Default Upgrading a Reman 5.7 Q's.

After reading the thread by, freestyledude - "Rebuilding the hemi - Budget power add ons?" I would like to have more HP in the Ram. I'm new ish to the Dodge Ram aftermarket and upgrades area. I no longer have a Jeep or car hauler to steal any extra funds that I might have.

I am wondering. Is going with new coil packs and shotrty wires worth it ?
MSD Blaster HVC-2 Ignition Coils 03-05 5.7L-6.1L HEMI and Taylor 8.2 ThunderVolts.

Or. Do I go with the same info that was given to freestyledude, and go with
the 6.1 Spring and pushrod combo ?

Will I need a tuner after doing any of these upgrades ?

Thanks.

I don't just want to throw money into it for the sake of it. If going with the regular MSD wires is good enough, I'm fine with that. I do plan on getting rid of the factory air cleaner set-up, which will expose all the wires. I do other plans to go along with all of the stuff that will be looking at also. Just trying to get a good starting point.

The coils aren't going to do anything for you.

I am not sure why someone would tell you to swap to 6.1 rods. They are only needed if you upgrade to an aftermarket cam ground on a 6.1 base circle.

With that said, there are tons of mods out there you can do. Personally the two best I have done are cam and converter.

However you are running a 4.7, not a Hemi

I was just referring to thread reply from "freestyledudes" post earlier.

I'm going to have some leftover $$$$ after the New engine goes in. I'm trying to figure out where to put some of it into the Truck before I blow it all on Hookers and Coke ! or, the wife goes shopping.
