I'd put more coolant and oil in and watch for any leaks. Put a clean piece of cardboard underneath it.

Did the levels go down any over night? You might want to try running it and watching for any drips underneath too.

Nope not overnight. It's gradual. The oil took about 2800 miles and the coolant was put in 1000 miles ago

How much has the oil gone down. Eventually the engine is going to burn some oil. My 5.2 with 160,000miles burns a quart every 2000 miles, which is'nt unusual for an engine with that mileage. Not sure about the coolant though, my level doesn't change.

i lost about 3 quarts over 3000 miles, it barely showed on the dip stick, and i believe that shows about 3 quarts. the thing is it doesn't smoke. i noticed around the front crank seal and around the oil pan there is some oil around there, so possibly the gaskets are bad there, or the pcv valve is bad, although i checked it and it still rattled. It's possible the oil leaks and blows off while i'm driving, but i don't see any oil on the underbody to indicate that it's blowing off and it doesn't drip after driving

Check around the valve covers. Mine leaks from the valve covers despite new gaskets... Every 4.7 I've come across has leaked from the valve covers

i believe it's not leaking from the valve covers but i'll give it another look. the losing antifreeze is still really confusing
