Default Hard time finding wheels...

So a project I had intended to start in the summer got pushed waaay back, but now it's underway.

Got the skyjacker lift in the *** end of the truck and also ordered all new rear brake components, including SS braided lines. Now about to start on the front, which includes the EMS hub conversion, the steering components upgrade (I didn't go with DOR since their kit is massively expensive IMO), and a few other things.

I ordered a set of 315/75R16 BFG All Terrains and am now having a hard time finding a set of wheels to go with them. I just want something simple and black, yet it seems finding 16x8/5x5.5 in black is a pain in the *** online. I am aiming for 4.5" backspacing (as that seems to be the consensus through searching these forums), and would like to not be breaking the bank on a simple wheel. Any suggestions out there? Even the Pro Comp ones I found are well over $100 each wheel.

Thoughts?

Looks like even generic steel wheels frigging START at 90 bucks.......

Start lookin' on craigslist. See what other manufacturers used the same bolt pattern, and find some wheels that will work.

Yeah, I was pretty shocked to see the prices.

I've been hunting kijiji and craigslist for months... no joy. The not-so-great part of living in New Brunswick, Canada. I may have to suck this one up, but really hoping not to. I've been hunting on Amazon as I have a Prime account and thus no shipping and there is never tax. The tires were under $1000 shipped.

Yeah, I don't see a lotta options if you aren't finding anything in the secondary market.... might check with local tire stores, and see if they have any take-offs they would be willing to sell..... aside from that, I think you are stuck.

I hate you. Seriously.

;o)

I'll send you some pictures soon. Work has been busy, to say the least. Sucks now that it's getting a bit chilly, but I'm in no huge rush. Tore down the rear end of the truck on the weekend and did a lot of cleaning to all the parts. Ordered everything new for the rear brakes, but opted NOT to get the 1 ton wheel cylinders as I don't really haul anything. Hopefully I'll start on the front end this weekend. Looking forward to seeing it all together and putting the car into storage for the winter!

Look for Eagle Alloy series 185 you should be able to find those wheels cheap. I have used spline lug nuts here I can put on the bus for you free. You would hate me more if you knew how many 1500 new/used parts I have thrown out this past month. I would also look for 16x10 wheel skip the 16x8 altogether.

If I were you, I'd look into the US Wheel 94 series. They look sweet and run right at $100/ea. Only backspacing is 4.25" or 5", but 4.25" is pretty close to 4.5".

Hmm... I'll have the consider the 94 series. I was going to go with all black, but I am guessing I will need to be flexible.

Merc, why 16x10 instead of 16x8? Is that preferred for 35's? I know I am not looking for that all "important" wide stance. I could care less about that, especially since it seems likely to cause greater wear and tear on parts than anything else.

Edit: Found this on ebay, atleast it is free shipping. http://www.ebay.com/itm/U-S-Wheel-044-Series-Stealth-Crawler-Black-Steel-Wheel-16-x8-5x5-5-BC-/331015397107?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Wheels&hash=item4d120e1ef3&vxp=mtr
It has an offset of 13mm, so 5" backspace. It has a large enough hub bore to deal with the EMS Hub Conversion kit. 5" backspace was stock on these trucks, but will it produce any issue with the larger tire? Also, I'll look into 16x10" wheels if you think that's better Merc. Since I'm still shopping for that, might as well see what's out there!

And here is my search for 16"x10" - http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_odkw...2&_sacat=33743

Glad to see there are some on there for not too bad. I see there is a US Wheel that is 16x10 there as well, but it only produces 4" backspace. I suspect that'd be an issue.

Just fast post here

I had a better ride out of the 16x10, tires lasted longer, steering improved. This is also thinking ahead for a 13.50 tire. I just looked at my old wheel specs and for the 16x10 it did have the 4" BS and that put the tire/wheel out 3" past the fender.
