I'm planning a kegger mod and second fix with hughes plate, harland sharp RR, new timing set and cam change.

Operating range is generally 1800-2600 almost all the time. I do wheel the truck and more torque everywhere would be a bonus. If anyone is running a cam for towing or torque (both) post up the brand and model # or the specs.

And does anybody know the stock cam specs for a 2000 dodge ram 5.9?

I'm open to suggestions, so get back to me.

 

I can't speak to how much torque this cam has YET but on paper it looks great. I have it in the 5.9 engine I have just rebuilt for my Jeep. This is the cam I am using "Competition Cams 206029 CRS262HR12 Camshaft" and the spec's are: 800-5000rpm; Adv. Dur. 262 Int./264 Exh.; Valve Lift .480 Int./.512 Exh.; Lobe Angle 112 deg.
I also added 1.65 rockers on the intake and 1.7 rockers on the exhaust for a little more lift. I'll know come springtime just what this cam is like once I get the Jeep back on the road.
You'll want to add a better exhaust and air cleaner to go with your other mods.

 

Way ahead of you, I've got truck headers, no cat, flowmaster 40 series, volant intake...

 

comp cams 20-745-9 i have this cam in my 360, along with 1.7s. low end torque=priceless!

 

A "Sausage" cam has been mentioned a few times as being a good torque cam for these engines.

 

Did this cam require custom tunes from SCT?

 

I'm still looking for the best cam that'll work with my setup to gain some more power when I get my m1 too.

 

$400-$600 isn't worth the trouble for the 20 hp that an intake costs. Mod your kegger and do the cam.
