Default 4x4issue

Hi everyone. Just bought an 02 1500 today. Upgraded from a 98. Got it real cheap but it has a 4wd issue. When u pull it into 4wd it drops in smoothly and the light comes on in the dash however 4wd does not engage. It only has an 02 sensor code. Just looking for a place to start. Anyone else had an iissue like this?

Never mind figured it out. Lol. Front driveshaft twisted and completely broke in half. Never seen anything like that in my life.

I'd definitely change all the fluids; engine oil, diffs, trans, t-case, everything...look for metal shavings and burnt fluid, etc. Change spark plugs and do comp test on the cylinders, just to see what you may be in for...It takes a BEATING to twist a drive shaft, this truck may have had a rough life being pounded on, or it may have gotten stuck just the once and twisted the shaft by trying to jimmy it out. You don't want to get stranded somewhere, so I'd go through everything.

Thanks for the advice. I'm gonna check it all out. It only has 70,000 on it and I got it for 2,000 dollars. Got the truck from a friend who is the original owner who used it for a plow truck so it has had a rough life. It has had a new tranny put in. Just gotta go thru and give it some tlc. Salt has taken its toll so needs some body work.

That's what I'm thinking. Guy has more money than sense. Instead of crawling under the truck he just bought a new one.

Worked out for you though...Maybe he knows how hard he was on it, and it will be one thing after another after doing that shaft, so just ran out and bought a new truck.
