Exclamation ram 1500 grinds in first, second and third gear

i have a 1994 ram 1500, 5.2, 5 speed, 4x4, with a 4 inch suspension lift.
the clutch feels fine, no slippage, but it grinds in the first three gears, fine in fourth and fifth. i was told that it was probably a throw out bearing but im thinking not. ive done some research and am thinking it might be the transfer case output shaft bearing. any thoughts on this? and is there a kit to rebuild a transfer case? im afraid that there is damage because of driving it like that. thanks for any help.

Sounds like bad synchronizers in your transmission.

Trans gears grinding has nothing to do with t-case. I agree with Rescue35. Trans issue.

What size tires are you running, and what gear ratio in the axles?

Welcome to DF!

im running stock tires right now, i think 275 16s, and it only makes noise when under pressure, completely gone when not on the throttle or gearing down. never any problems going into gear and i thought when the syncros go it will grind going into gear. i will look at the rear end and let you know what gears i have. thanks, just trying to fix the right part

Does it grind when you shift? Or only when actually applying power thru the driveline? Growl while driving????

Have you checked the snap ring on the t-case output shaft?? Fluid levels up to snuff?

Gotta drop the driveshaft, and pull the tail housing off the t-case. Not too bad of a job.
