Wow that is hard to read, but my guess is the rack is leaking out of the inner or outer seals. You can remove the boots and see if they are full of fluid.

If the rack is leaking you will get odd pressure issues with the rack which will cause steering issues.

I went to dealer and the problem is the rack and pinion is blow. The rubber boots its fill of power steering oil and at the top of the rack and pinion where the steering is attach to the rack and pinion unit. So the little mecanic in there is broke. The mecanic tell me im very lucky to have steer!!! The mecanic tell me its not so good and its the beginning of nightmare with dakota truck. I need to put a 1000$ in front supension without labor!!! Its my first truck,i have it about 3 weeks now. Do you recommend 3rd generation dakota to a friend?

You will get a wide range of views about the 3gen Dakota. I personally would not recommend the truck to anyone. I had one of those trouble trucks that had issue after issue. Truck was never abused, never off road, just fell apart. I wish I did not wait so long to sell the truck.

Can someone translate this thread for me? I would love to know what the actual problem / solution was just for reference!

Rack and pinion it's too difficult a job on these trucks. Most rebuilt units come with new inner tie rods. It's a good idea to replace the outer tie rods at the same time.

I can see where a dealer will tell you those few items will cost $1000. Local parts store can get me a rebuilt rack for between $260 and $400us depending on which one I want.
