Smile 1992 318 mods.

I'm rebuilding my 1992 Dodge Ram, SWB, 4x4, reg cab, with a SB 318 Magnum, 727 tranny, 241 rock crusher case. from the ground up. It was given to my father in exchange for his labour on complete rebuild of 69 Mustang. 4x4 Raced on BFGoodrich offroad racing circuit for 6 years and now given to me after 4 rollovers, 5 engines and 3 cabs later. (and lots of running gear swaps lol typical dodge)

anyways I started With the frame and now it's actually resembling a truck. Backstory over. As stated before it has a 318 magnum in it.(FI but switching over to Carb before mods take place. Already have 4 barrel carb, intake, MSD etc.) I'm looking to do some mods that will help with HP, fuel mileage, torque and make it sound like a beast etc. I've got the basics on my list so far and into my budget. Port and polish heads, headers, New timing chain and gears etc. Just wondering what you all have for mods that work and sound great for you? I'm thinking about ordering summit shorty headers for it (the pacesetter ones that are sold as summit but have the stamp on it as pacesetter) #G9045 any of you guys have them on your vehicles? just wondering what they are like. Also any tips for air intake systems? I have the K&N 57 series performance intake kit in mind but want to see what all works great for you guys. Looking for ANY and ALLtips and tricks to get the most out of my 318 Engine. THANKS!

for hp tq and fuel milage and sounding like a beast the best upgrade is fuel in jection so leave it and a fuel injected motor has more get up and go but also post pics of the build im rebuilding my 93 swd 4x4 318 5 speed truck as well

Also the money spent porting and polishing the heads could be better spent on new better heads.
Plus a stroker kit.
Plus an intake. Etc etc.

Actually my father has been a mechanic for over 50 years and he has ported and polished and done various other machining to heads and engines in that time for good money. So bonus i get them done for the exchange of a Tim Hortons coffee! lol

I just want to do some basic mods without delving deep into the engine. (racing pistons, rods, bearings, stroker kit, camshaft etc) as the 318 is just to tide me over for a few years while i really strip apart and put money into my 413

If you want good fuel economy and power - leave the fuel injection on it.

What are your plans for this truck? Daily driver, rock crawler, desert, etc?

I wouldn't waste the money on a 318. Find a 360 (LA or magnum) and start your build with that. 408 stroker kit, better heads with minor bowl and runner work, Hughes roller cam, Hughes FI intake and programmer. Good for 485-515 Hp and 500 lbs\ft torque depending on the specifics.

One last thing - there is no "rock crusher" its just a NP241
