ATF+3 verses ATF+4

ATF+3 verses ATF+4
I'm going to service my 2001 Durango transmission. I went to the auto parts store and they tell me I need ATF+4, but they don't carry it and can't even get it yet. My question is where can I get ATF+4 and do I really need it? Can I instead use ATF+3, and if I use AFT+3 will I need some sort of additive and what kind and where would I get it?
Thanks,
Dennis

RE: ATF+3 verses ATF+4
I don't think it matters where you get it, use ONLY what the manufacturer recomends. I highly recommend that you read this website about transmissions and trans axles. http://www.allpar.com/fix/trans.html I read this while looking for possible cures for my car problem. It reinforces a lot of what I already knew. A lot to read, but good stuff.

RE: ATF+3 verses ATF+4
ATF+4 must be bought at the stealership only... I would NOT go with +3 if the owners
manual says to use +4.
DC's auto trannys got enough problems now.. DON'T give the stealerships still
another excuse NOT to honer a warrenty.
Why do you think DC no longer has the 7/70 plan, just the 6/60 now?
Mainly it's their JUNK transmissions!
