I run Castorol GTX High Mileage, with a Pure One oil filter, changed every 2500-3000 miles.
After my research, I learned synthetic proves no benifit unless its a high performance engine, the engine is under alot of towing/load, or you want extended drain intervals. That being said, if you change dino oil out every 3k, it will give you the same benifit as running synthetic for 10k. I dont run synthetic for long intervals because I dont feel comfortable having oil in the engine for that long. With 117k miles, oil is a good way to see how you engine is doing. If it comes out anything other than light transperent brown, I know I have a problem.

I'll be hitting 5K kms - 100K overall - soonish as well, and will have to make the big decision as well. I will check what my shop uses and then decide if I will bring my own in to him. This will be a 100K km check after all. I have been using dino because my former vehicle didn't hold on to the synth very well, but now I guess I can go back to synth for the extended interval. As a country dweller the oil changes are a bit of a PITA and I don't have a concrete-floor heated garage so I am definitely not going to do my own. Doing the bike oil is enough for me!
I'll likely lean toward Mobil 1 unless the shop uses one of the brands mentioned here, and depending on the shop markup. I wonder what Oil Changers uses?
