Default Rough idle still.

okay guys i need a little advice. I have a 2006 dakota quad cab. It has the 6-banger in it. The truck idles terrible. It is really noticable but, the tach stays still. I have read many posts on hear as to this problem. The computer has already been flashed as the idle is around 700. Brand new plugs in are the Autolite 5224's. I need some help!

i have the same issue (with 06 3.7L). i initial used 5224 autolites and the rough idle continued. but as soon as i am out of warranty i am going to put some 3923 autolites in. alot of people on here have had luck with those. because they are one temperature lower.

for some reason, up to 05, 3923's were the o.e. replacement for the 3.7L, but in 06 dodge changed the plugs to one range hotter? some say it was to combat carbon build up on the valves that plagued a few 3.7L's in the jeep libertys? who knows?

also there is a tsb on 05-06 3.7L's with a rought idle. i have the link below. mine does not qualify for the tsb because i have no misfire count at idle. mike

first off, the 5224 are not that great of a plug to run in these motors. they like the 3923 autolite. also check you vaccum hoses. they may seem fine, but might be cracked around the fittings. could have a cam positioning sensor going. thats on the side of the block on the passenger side.

also the second time i went in for it they re-flashed my pcm with the latest software. what it did was up my hot idle from 500 to 600. it helps a little but still is rough.

the other thing to do is reset the computer. disconnect the neg. battery cable. then turn key all the way to start. hold for 20sec. reconnect battery cable. start and stop truck 3 times. on the thrid time leave truck running for 5 min. it will need to relearn the paramiters. take truck for a ride. if it still dose it. then your throttle position sensor needs to be replaced. about 106.00

Default tps?

I looked in the manual on here and it states 5 volt supply with .29 at idle. I checked mine out and it is around .65 volt. Maybe it. A little mad it is not adjustable like my mustang though. I guess this is the problem? It has done it since i bought the truck. Just seemed to be getting worse. Didn't have the time to get it to the dealer before warranty ran out. Sound like the right thing to do?

well, it is a start. You can at least eliminate it as the cause.
