Default Armrest swap?

Right now I have this style armrest...

(I know thats not a dakota, but was the only decent pic I could find)

I would like to know if I can take those off and swap in this armrest...

I hate the current armrests and would like that center console there. Right now it's so empty between the driver and passenger seat and need to fill that void. Thanks!

I was looking at doing somthing the same only i have the flip up middle seat in my truck.
from dodge I would have to buy all the center console parts seperate and put them toghether myself and over $1000 to do it. it someone knows where to get those center consoles cheaper other than at a auto junk yard let me know , though an auto yard might be my best bet.

I've been considering this myself. For awhile I forgot about it thinking the flip up seat might be good to have since I removed my rear seats. But I hardly use it and it's such a pain when someone is sitting there I'm starting to think only being able to carry 1 other person would be an advantage

I would love to have a center console too. I put an aftermarket one from Pep Boys in, but it was a little too wide and messed with the passenger side airbag sensors. So now I just have a little one between the seats that holds a few cds and has two drink holders. I got it at Pep Boys, too.

So, before you order anything, check the width measurements.

It sure would be nice to have a legitimate center console.
