Thumbs up SuperChip Flashpaq or Cortex ? Now This Is The Question...

Hi Everyone. How is everyone doing?
I noticed that Programmer Gods has Finally Allowed SuperChip to Release a Programmer for our 05/07 Trucks. How Great Is That??

The thing that I dont understand is,... How come I dont see more of us having them??

I can't find Crap out as far as Data about them and I'm really interested in the difference between the Flashpaq & Cortex.

In some posts,... I see people talking about 3 and 4 different models but on the SC Site i only see 2 Models the 3865 & 3950.

Which of these 2 Models will really give me my Money's Worth do you think?

I dont know,... Like i said, I havent been able to find much info and i'm hoping that you guys know more about it than I do.

I know that when using a programmer you want to have a new exhaust system and a new intake system so check, check on both of those,.. Anything else.

Does the Cortex Actually Tell you how many miles per gallon your getting while your driving in real time? I thought i may have read that somewhere in a thread somewhere but i may have misunderstood what they were saying.

I have lots of questions but I'll just start with saying Hi and asking these so far.

Take It Easy.

Welcome to DF 4.7! There is the Cortex Tuner and the Flashpaq Tuner. I am not too sure about the Cortex as I havent researched it much. The Flashpaq is the most common and the 3815 was the first of the Flashpaqs, the 3865 was just released. Many are happy with the 3815. Maybe someothers will Chime in

I have the cortex 3950. As far as datalogging goes there are many selections you can make, but it only allows 4 at a time to be watched on the screen. I don't believe you can watch your MPG's, but you can see exactly how full your tank is in percentage, i.e. 89% full etc. You can watch intake manifold pressure, intake air temp, O2 sensor voltage, lots and lots of things. The cortex comes with stock tune, 87 tune, towing tune, 91 tune, and XS mileage. I get about 4-5 more mpg's with the mileage tune, and you will definitely notice the power increase on the 91 tune. Give it a few days for an even bigger boost, as it adapts to your driving style. The ONLY problem I have had is that erased my 4x4 from my PCM, it's been 3 weeks and they still haven't been able to fix it.

Welcome to the site and nice truck. I dig the shaker hood. Before I sold my cortex I used it alot. There are several tune settings and several data logging options. I highly recommend it as long as you are not planning custom tunning or running boost applications.

You would want to contact SuperChips to be 100% sure but I believe the new Flashpaq 3865 (replaces the 3815) has all the same features that were previously only on the Cortex.

Hey Guys,.. Man i'm really sorry for the long delay is getting back to you guys but my wife has had knee surgery and i've been taking care of her and things around the home front so i havent been able to get back to here has quickly has i would have liked but anyway i'm here now .

Hi Baracis,.... Thank you for your reply, It sounds like the Cortex does a lot of really cool stuff. I went back to the SuperChip Website and man i could not find any of that Info on their website and i even tried to go to their Forums and it seems that their forums isnt working either.

Is there any one spot that lists everything that the Cortex does or is there an Online Manual somewhere Online that i can download of it or could your Scan your Manual in Adobe PDF Format and Upload to here so i can check it out to see what all it does for me that would be so cool?

How does it know how much Gas is in your gas tank?

You know ever since i bought my Dakota i have had a problem with it Stalling on me at long Red Lights and Such...

I've taken it to the dealership and they told me one time that they were aware of this issue on some vehicles and were waiting for Dodge to come out with new software for it and that they were going to contact me when this New software would come out,.. Needless to say, 4 years late they still havent contacted me and the last time i took it in they told me they couldnt find any problems and said that i would have to put the original 68mm TB back on so that they could test it properly which i understand but it still stalled on me even with the original 68mm TB on it.

I wonder if the SuperChip programmer would Fix this Problem for me,... What do you think???

I hope to hear from you again soon,.. Thanks again for stopping by bud...

Hey Blown,.. Hows it going?

Thanks for the Welcome and the Dig on the Shakker Hood.

Why did you end up selling your Cortex? What Boost Applications are you speaking of? Like NOS or something? and if so What is the Down fall?

Thanks for stopping by bud..

When I first bought mine from my grandfather it stalled on me twice, was so far apart I assumed it was a fluke but when I had it in to the dealership for some warranty suspension work I mentioned it to my service advisor. When I got the truck back I noticed on the work sheet that in addition to the suspension work they also flashed the truck with updated software. It's never stalled on me since then. Wish I'd kept that sheet now I could see what the version listed was but it got thrown out a long time ago.

How long ago when this that you bought it from your Grandfather?

Did your Grandfather ever say that it stalled on him?

Do you think that they should be able to Flash the Computer even though the Stock Throttlebody Isnt in the Truck anymore or do you think I'll have to put the Stock Throttlebody Back in because Removing the Shaker Scoop to put the TB Back on Isnt Something that I really look forward to doing down here in the Hot Florida Sun if you know what I mean plus my Back isnt what it use to be.

If the Cortex Programmer will Solve my problem with it then i just might just say screw it and just Program it using it then If it'll Solve the Stalling Issue on Top of all of the Bonus of the Performance I'll be getting with the SuperChip Program.

What do you guys think?????
