Default seatbelt dinger even when belt is on

My seatbelt "dinger" is on and the light on the dash even though my seatbelt is on. I don't really know how to get at it or what could be wrong. It seems that sometimes if i get some slack on the belt and sit on the latch it will go away, but only sometimes. It's really getting annoying.

3 dings 12 times, only after you get above 20 mph the first time
just fyi......
I can't even make phone calls cuz everyone hears it in the background, lol

I would just disable the chime and be done with it. There was nothing wrong with mine but I disabled it anyway because I don't always wear my belt even though I should and I was getting tired of hearing the dinger also. Can't remember how exactly but I know one of the guys here pointed me in the right direction...

My seatbelt was doing the same thing. A wire came loose in the latch. Pry the latch open and make sure the wires are connected.

so, how hard would it be just to jump those wires in the latch? I was thinking of disabling the chimer, but thought that it may be used for other alerts.

You can disable just the seatbelt chime only, the instructions were in my oner's manual,
but i cant remember the exact procdure. the light stays on though, but if you jumped the wires at the latch, it should keep the light and the chime both off. good luck.

So just pry apart the latch... the plastic piece? and make sure the wires are all connected (or rig it up). I"ll see what I can do tomorrow...

Here ya gues go if you wanna disable the belt chime:

NOTE: The following steps must occur within the first
60 seconds of the ignition switch being turned to the ON
or START position. DaimlerChrysler does not recommend
deactivating the Enhanced Warning System
(BeltAlert).
1. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position and
buckle the driver’s seat belt.
2. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position and wait
for the Seat Belt Warning Light to turn off.
3. Within 60 seconds of starting the vehicle, unbuckle
and then re-buckle the driver’s seat belt at least three
times within 10 seconds, ending with the seat belt
buckled.
4. Turn off the engine. A single chime will sound to
signify that you have successfully completed the programming.
The Enhanced Warning System (BeltAlert) can be reactivated
by repeating this procedure.
NOTE: Although the Enhanced Warning System
(BeltAlert) has been deactivated, the Seat Belt Warning
Light will continue to illuminate while the driver’s seat
belt remains unbuckled.
