Default Wheel and Tire questions

My wife has an 07 Dakota 4x4. I wanted to know if anyone out there has tried to use the Durango 6 spoke steel spare wheels as winter wheels??? They look nice for a steel spare unlike the Dakota or Ram full size spare with the ugly holes. And also what is the largest size 17" tire I can get under the fenders of the 07 Dakota???

Right now it has the optional 18" alloys. I wanted to buy a set of steel spare wheels for winter with A/T treads. I cam up with 245/70-17 (the stock size for Durango) Hankook DynaPro ATMs. I like them, great reviews and all. They should be a 30.6" diameter tire like the 18" tires are so I should have no problem with the speedo being wrong but I was wondering what the largest tire is anyone used under a stock height Dakota without rubbing??? Thanks for any help.

My truck came stock with 265/65/17's. So you could probably go larger if you wanted to. I have the hankook dynapro ATM's. I think they're great tires. IIRC the Durango wheels will work with our Dakotas. Other's should chime in to verify.

If its the 5 lug with a 5 x 5.5 spacing and offset, then you are golden! Good luck

Thanks a lot. Ordered some Durango steel wheels without wheel covers. I am getting those ATM tires too..they look like nice tires and they have perfect reviews! Hows the treadware? These will be mostly highway and lots of snow!
