Default 2008 Dakota Rear Window Defroster

Weird but true. I purchased a used 2008 Dakota Quad cab. When I bought the truck I didn't notice, but it does have a rear window defroster on the window and appears to have the wire leads connected. However, there is no switch that I see to turn it on. The owner's manual indicates that if installed, the switch should be on the panel near the AC switch.

After sweeping out the truck for the first time, I noticed glass on the floor beneath the rear seats which indicates that the original window had be broken.

Is there some other way that a person may have connected the defogger so that it will function differently than the standard method?

You may want to post this in the 3rd Generation Dakota Sub-Section. I will move it for you.

I don't have one on my truck, but maybe it just turns on when you put on the defroster for the HVAC unit? :dunno:

Do you have a button directly below your A/C switch? Should look identical except the decal on it. The defrost for the mirrors & rear window are on this single switch in my 06.

Guys, if you look on Dodge's site none of the interior pictures for the '08+ model shows that button:

I checked out the downloadable '08 owners manual too and there is no mention of it. Hopefully one of the guys with an '08+ will chime in, there has to be a way to turn it on.

Here's a shot from my 08. The lower button turns on the rear defroster.
