Default Air Bag Light

Having this issue with my 2006 dodge dakota, the air bag light in the cluster comes on when you start it and then goes off for a split second then comes back on and stays on... All fuses are fine.We had this issue where it would pop a air bag fuse if you sat in the passenger seat and pushed the seat all the way back, the light in the middle of the dash would come on until you replaced the fuse then it would all be working fine. Now just recently the air bag light on the cluster comes on and won't go off. I tried turning the passenger air bag off with the key switch but it doesn't show the light and it doesn't say it's off.

Also there is a after market radio that I had to tap switched power from the cigaret lighter.(Don't know if that could cause these issues)

When we had the passenger air bag issues a few years ago we had taken it into the dealer and they said everything was fine well today I decided to see if everything was "fine".

I found this

I tapped the bad spot up and tapped the entire cluster of wires and replaced the fuse but still the light on the cluster was on.

Is it the yellow airbag light on the top of the radio bezel between the air vents or the red airbag light on the instrument cluster behind the steering wheel? If it's the red one, try disconnecting the battery for like 30 minutes (to let the residual charge dissipate), if your tape job fixed the problem there still might be a code in the computer that needs to be cleared. Sometimes if you do that, it will let the computer reset itself and it will go away.

I had a similar problem when I forgot to reconnect the yellow light above the radio, once I found that to be the issue and disconnected the battery, it went away.

Will have to try that and it's the red light in the instrument cluster.

Update: Left the battery disconnected for a few hours and the light still comes on in the cluster.

I had the same problem and disconnecting the batt fixed it for me... did you disconnect the neg cable? The Pos cable removed wont clear the computer.

Also I've been reading that I could disconnect BOTH battery cables and touch them together and it will clear any codes but not hard fault codes?

LOLWUT?

Disconnecting either the positive OR the negative will remove, AKA disconnect, the power supply from the vehicle. The effect to the vehicle will be the same.

Hahaha Hey I dont understand it either but its what the dealer told me, something about it was how to drain the capacitors or something. I think it has more to do with not arcing the battery, but they said disconnecting the NEG was the only way to clear the codes....
