2007 3.7 Engine Tick
I have searched and searched. I know our engines make a ticking noise. I have heard this since i bought the truck with 25,000 miles. Well now I have 98,000 miles on it. And just started the truck and the tick is really loud, plenty of oil. I let it warm up, drove around the block and let idle(still loud tick). Even when revving the engine the tick gets louder and faster. Any clue on what I can do to pinpoint the problem? Thanks

If the tick is as loud as it sounds, I would say exhuast leak near the manifold. Have not heard of this issue on the 3.7. But its possible, I just had my manifold, every bolt, and gasket replaced under the powertrain warranty. Its going back in to have a leak down test done due to possible power loss from a burned valve, caused by the exhaust leak.

my old 3.7 had the same issue. The day i hit the deer, it was soundin like a diesel.
I thought that it was a valve issue. If i remember right, you might want to look into lashcaps (if that is the right name for them). They are used when people put in reground camshafts. But i'd rather think that its some build up on the valve, or head, that aint letin the valve come back up to where it is suposed to be, or it just aint seated correctly from the factory.
