So, I'm trying to find a used 4x2 transmission for an 2005 dakota v6 automatic and I'm having some trouble. I know it's a 42rle and I'm finding a lot of 42rles on ebay that say they fit an '04, but the ones I've found off of '05s cost twice as much. When I talked to a guy at a scrap yard he said the '04s won't fit in an '05. Is this true? are they mounted differently? I'm finding '06s and '07s that are also significantly cheaper. Seeing as how these are the same generation it seems like they should fit, but the sites I've found them listed on just describes them as fitting one particular year. Does anyone have experience swapping out these transmissions, and is there really that much variation in the 42rle model?
