Default front end work question.

Hey everyone. So I'm not in the best mood but my lower ball joint just sheered off in a parking lot and it seems to have pulled my CV shaft apart and not sure if its saveable or It needs to be replaced. Just trying to pinch pennies around here.IMG_20150525_160710051_zpsdvdnqrl8.jpg
Thanks

i'm not an expert, but one would think that the CV was done for. I know that some CV's are made to be able to separated and they snap together kinda like how the entire shaft stays in the differential. Since our CV shafts have full dust boots, i think that it can't be salvaged. best to get a new one and replace.

Any idea what snapped it? That could have been very bad if it happened on the highway.

Wow.....yep, new shaft. You cant put those things back together easily. New ones cost about $60. Easier to just replace it.

Very good thing this didn't happen at speed. Sorry to hear. Another reason I ditched ball joints on my front end.

For the price of a complete cv assembly I wouldn't even bother trying to fix it. Just slap a new one in.
