Default New to Forum & DAK

I’ve had my 2006 Dakota Quad Cab for one month now and could not be happier. As a former owner of a 1995 Dodge Ram extended cab with the big V-8, it will take a bit of getting use to the smaller cab. I sure won’t miss the fuel bills. My new DAK has the 3.7 V-6. I installed my own trailer hitch and wiring. I just traced out each wire and it worked like a charm. I read the posts every night. I’ve learned so much. It’s great to see so many DAK owner’s in one place, sharing info and looking for help with their own problems.

Welcome aboard Dude,
I've owned my Dak for 17 months & 21K & I love it!!I bought a Quad 4.7L 4X4 with everything I also (solely)got it for the Tow Cap & gas mileage. For a Mid-size truck it's got balls!
We own a 24' Tow-behind camping trailer, thats the main reason as to why we bought it, we have had nothing but good come from this truck, not to mention it's pretty sweet looking.LOL!

I wish you the best with yours & look forward to see what kind of mods you do to it!!!!

Angry Cap Light

Hello from North Haven, ME
I iwant to install a brake light on the cap on my 2006 Dakota. The problem is what is the color of the wire I splice into. I used a test light on the white and green wire and when the brake is on it works, but it blinks when the turn signals are on. Also I have the vibration problem.
Need Help

well, the vibration issue has been covered a lot. there is a TSB on it. I think it was rear brakes or something along those lines. as far as the light issue, not sure on that. anyone with a topper want to chime in?

Welcome to both of you!

norhav I suspect you will have to tap the stock 3rd brake light as the tails use the same bulb for brake and turn. How you like it out there in the middle of the atlantic? (Sabattus, ME here )

Actually, Rich, you can tap one of the wires for the taillights for the topper light...I know that's what was done with mine. I will check tomorrow afternoon and let you know. It's kinda dark now.

Welcome to both of you, as well!

I'll try to check on this again tomorrow...I've been fighting a few rounds with a cold/flu and the cold medicine's pretty much had me knocked out the last few days. I just forgot about checking the wiring today...
