Switching Octane

E85 is among the most idiotic ideas ever - along with any ethanol-based fuels. With millions of people starving in the world and more malnourished, we are burning FOOD in our cars. And why? To line the pockets of those who are profiting from the "carbon credit" scam. And who pays for it? Taxpayers do - in ethanol subsidies and in the increased cost of fuel we buy. If God had meant for man to burn ethanol in cars, He'd have designed people so that corn was inedible...

I use e85 during the summer months..the gas mileage difference isn't as drastic that way..It seems to run a little better on it (imho)..It's always 40-50 cents cheaper/gal here..The Ds were designed for it so why not take advantage of saving a few $? The real world diffences between it and reg gas are not as different as the guides make it seem..

E85 has better performance than gas. It's octane rating is like 107. It just takes more fuel to make more power. It's weird, but you will gain performance but loose mpg with e85. My old range stated in the service manual 10hp gains with e85. I've seen subaru guys jump 50hp on e85. It just takes more volume.

I've read several articles about ethanol blended gas and if you take the same amount of gas with the same octane.... With And without ethanol, the non ethanol fuel will have more "energy" so it detonates with more force which would mean The non ethanol should give more hp. Only question is, without a tune, would it help or hurt by using non ethanol fuel.
Wanted to clarify...e85 is rated at 105 octane so the higher octane would give more hp if tuned for it. My question is mainly 91 with 10% ethanol vs 91 non ethanol in my D.
