I have replaced 2 wireless control modules in 2011 and up Durango and GCs in the last 4 years. Probably 100 TIPMs.
Further update that I posted under the TIPM recall, vehicle finally stranded us. The dealer it is at now, Wickstrom, agreed with your and mine conclusion that it is the TIPM and they will get it fixed and document that it is NOT the wireless control module so hopefully I can get my diagnostic fee back from the other dealer. It was nice to hear someone confirm the KNOWN issue and not play coy or dumb about it. Thank you again!!!
As a reminder, if you have not, file a complaint with NHTSA with your TIPM problems. All the complaining on these boards wont help with the government doesn't know about it.
As a FYI, there is a $125 core on the TIPM, so it looks like they are installing rebuilt units. I asked for my old one back so I could send it in to get repaired to have for the next failure and was faced with the core charge. Disappointing on Chrysler's part. I get a 12 month 12k mile warranty....o boy.
RIght about the same time. May want to check with your dealer, although being in the media and actually started are two different things. This is now 3 recalls on my former 2011.....
What codes would the dealer find if he query the DD's system? shouldn't some pop up beside just a CEL?
Both my "TIPM events" were in February, 2014, with about 35K on the 2012 Crew clock. Dealer found no codes to indicate TIPM failure. No problems before or since those two events. May have just been bad gas . . . ? I'm heading for Watkins Glen Wednesday and certainly don't want an "event" coming or going.
