blue smoke at start up/oil use star case s1418000028
just got my d back from the dealer...
I've posted in another thread that I'm experiencing blue smoke at start up along with an oil usage problem (2 liters in 3500km)
well apparently there is a star case #s1418000028 that relates to my problem.
here's from my invoice:
cause:
Burning oil
correction:
remove intake manifold to pressure test PCV passage as per star case s1418000028. PCV passage leaks. Intake manifold requires replacement. re-install intake. Parts on order.
there is another line on my invoice that has my complaint about blue smoke... it just says to see above.
now... i'm trying to understand how the PCV passage leaking would add oil to the intake? the PCV is supposed to exit into the intake... idk...
wondering if anyone here has ever had there intake manifold off and could share some insight...
or maybe the leak is in a spot where there is allot of oil spray and it picks up more oil...
anyone have any thoughts?

Ok... After some thinking and googling... I've found out that the pcv valve is located on/in the intake manifold.
Which means the passage either leaks: before or after the pcv valve into the intake...
Man I hope this is the fix...
Edit:
Looks like there is a hose coming off the valve (thought it might be integral) ... Meaning it's a leak before the pcv valve.

Ya it is allot... But just under what dodge considers acceptable.
Parts should show up early next week and I hope to have the repair done by the weekend or early next week.
Keeping my fingers crossed that this is going to be the fix...
Really like the D
Edit:
Dodge considers 1 liter per 1200km (I think it was 1200) to be acceptable...

Just wanted to update...
It's been just under a week since my intake has been replaced... To early to say if my oil consumption is down but I can say it is still smoking...
Talked to my dealer and he said he has several new ones on his lot that smoke a bit... He said at this point there is nothing that he can do. Chrysler considers this normal and will not look into the smoke issue until there is 10000 km's or more...

My biggest worry is reliability... And resale value... This was a big purchase for us...
I'm going to try to get Chrysler Canada involved... I don't want to fight... I Just want my truck fixed... Maybe if they promise to fix it after the 10000 km's then I'm not going to worry about it right now... But it's worrisome that there are so many with this problem... Including trucks right off the lot.
