Thumbs up Dashcam install

Installed my new 0803 dashcam Tuesday night.

I'd planned ahead and bought a LK350 wiring kit so the camera would be always on, and I wouldn't need to use my cigarette lighter. Also bought a pair of 'add-a-fuse' adapters.

So the first thing I do with my father and brother-in-law is look for the fuse box. I was very surprised there wasn't one inside the cabin. And no matter how hard we looked we couldn't find a way between the cabin and the engine bay (which, I guess is good

We considered running directly to the battery (which we were all super surprised to find out is under the passenger seat) but that would be a very long run and in the end, we opted to tap into the overhead console.

It was a lot of work, but I couldn't be happier with the results. The wiring kit that allows me to run the dashcam 24/7 protects my battery from being drained too low. The camera itself will record HD video and audio to a 64Gb microSD card on a loop. I just wish it used some lossless compression and motion detection to be more efficient with it's storage space.

Cool! If I wanted to put in a dash cam, this is how I would do it.

i guess i have it easier, i tapped into my mirror wires with self made mirror tap pins. Previously had the Garmin GDR35D dual cam, now running the Blackvue DR650GW-2CH dual cam. Saves you a lot of time should you ever get into and fender benders or minor accidents.
