Default UConnect Vulnerability on Jeep Cherokee

I wonder if the D with UConnect is also vulnerable to hackers.

Any FCA vehicle with the UConnect 8.4 system is vulnerable. They released new firmware on the 16th that patches this particular exploit though.

I guess the UConnect 8.4 refers to the the systems with the 8.4" touchscreen.

My 2013 D has the 730N RHR with the 6.5" touchscreen. It is still on the 2.126 "Application" version. Perusing the internet I saw that there are newer versions (latest is 2.6) available for download through MyGig. I wonder if anyone knows whether there is a site that has release notes for the newer sw versions; I'd like to know what changes the newer versions have. My current system has no issues, so, I would rather not try to "fix" something that's working well.

On another note, when I ask the service writer at the dealer to see if there are any software updates, their answer in no. Does anyone know if the dealer provides updates to the infotainment system also or is it just to the drivetrain system?

Default UConnect Vulnerability on Jeep Cherokee

This was one vehicle that they had to have physical access to.

Move along. Nothing to see here.
