Default 2014 V6 transfer case fluid level conundrum

Service manual says I have a MP2010 and to fill it 1"-1.3" below the fill plug and has a nominal fill of 1.1 pints. Also says to bend a rod sticking in the fill hole to check the level.

My concern is it only took 3/4 pint to bottom of the fill plug on level garage floor and there's no room to turn the rod down as the fill hole is right near the edge, it can turn maybe a little past 90 degrees. I suppose I could drain some out to get it to the right level on the home made dip stick but it seems like it would be an insignificant amount.

Any body have an experience with the MP2010?

It's a 2014. Why are you worried about it now?

I like to tinker, get any metal particles out from the OEM fill since there's no filter or magnetic drain plug and refill with Redline D6. I changed the front & rear diffs too.
