BTW... has anyone ever removed the fuel door? It feels like there is a lever inside the door on the left that might release it. I might be able to make an adjustment if i can remove it.
I saw this post a few weeks back. Thought to myself, "Sucks to be this guy/gal." Well it just happened to me this morning. Temp outside wasn't freezing. I hit the button, got out, scanned my card at the pump (BJs) and inserted CC, hit Fuel button and turned around to see my fuel door closed. I had to put the hose down and reach into the my 2015 DD R/T to hit the button again. Nothing happened. I decided to repeatedly hit the button and eventually the door did open.

Taking in the DD for the trim piece fix tomorrow. Will bring this up and see what they say.

Thanks for all the research and posts. This is why these forums are helpful.

Default Same door issue

i just bought a new 2017 Durango. It has less than 1000 miles on it and I'm having the same door issue. I guess I will need to call the dealership. Has anyone experienced any issues after the gas door was replaced? I wonder how many people need to have this problem before they issue a recall?!

Hi Firstdodge2016,

There does appear to be a STAR case, S1708000003, that involves looking at the fuel door housing and hinge, that may be applicable to your vehicle. If you need me to follow up with the dealership for you, please send me a PM.

A STAR case is a case that was addressed by corporate technicians to assist a dealership. The dealership is able to view information from the case to see if it might be applicable to your vehicle.

I noticed this on my '14. The door sagged slightly and would bind up. Just lift up on the bottom of the door so it sits properly in the hole and it should release. When shutting it be careful to kind of hold up on the door so it sits properly. Haven't had the trouble again. It's been probably 2 years since it happened.

Took it to the dealership but they couldn't duplicate the issue so they said they can't help...

Default Not showing up as star case

I contacted my dealer for the same issue and have to pay $200 to get it fixed. They did not find that star case number and said they didn't find any other similar issues. I have 39,000 miles and just out of warranty. I have a 2015 limited durango.

Sometimes you gotta play hardball with the dealer. That star case might not apply to your year, or for some other reason.

Hi Tia,

Unfortunately the STAR case my colleague provided does not apply to your vehicle's model year. If you decide to revisit your dealership for further diagnosis and/or repairs on your vehicle and require further assistance please send us a PM with your VIN and let me know.
