WHEEL & TIRE FITMENT on DODGE RAM
#21
Question: Will 20 inch rims fit on the front of a 05 reg cab short bed 2WD ST (3.7ltr.) without leveling the nose? I ask this more because the rim is wider and not sure if P265/65/R20 will have fender rub issues.

Im pretty familiar with all this but one thing threw me off. I orderd a 6"inch lift kit, the company suggests...5.5 backspacing...talked to a tech he said 5 max cause ill start rubbing. I ended up ordering a 20x10 wheel with a -12 offset which is exactly 5 backspacing. 35" or 37" wheel btw.
Now lets say i want the wheel to go out even further, a -24 offset on a 20x10 wheel would equal to 4.5 backspacing. Besides rubbing my fenders would it effect hitting my control arms? From reading your post, its a no. But Id like to be reassured, i guess thew tech threw me off.
Thanks

You said for a 2008 1500 4wd stock everything you could go 34"x11.5" max. You mentioned the possible tire sizes with back spacing and a 2" lift/level for 2006-2008 but not without the backspacing on stock wheels. I'm putting bilstein adj 5100s on the front to level her up and extra leafs in rear on my 2008 1500 4wd and was wondering if 34"x11.5" is my max size still without any rub. I'm using my stock 17" rims. Any info would be great. Thanks bud

I have a somewhat related question to Hilliers above. I need some new tires to pass safety but I don't want to spend a ton on new tires as I want to get new rims/tires together later this year. I found a set of 285/70R17s locally for $100. The 285 measures about 11.22" wide. I am at stock height with the stock 17" wheels. I do plan on doing a 2" leveling kit in the near future but was wondering if anyone has run a 285 with the stock 17s and had any rubbing issues or thought it was a little too close for comfort to that upper balljoint. Thanks for any insight!

On my 02 4x4 I've had
LT305/55/20 Nitto Terra Grapplers on stock 02-05 20's
LT325/60/20 Toyo Open Country on stock 02-05 20's
305/70/17 Nitto Terra Grapplers on moto metal wheels
The 325's rubbed the sway bar pretty good, but cleared and I took it off road with them without any issue, the smaller 305's rubbed the sway bar a tiny bit but nothing major. The 17's on it now clear the best.
Btw this is 100% stock ride height, not even new shocks, 190k miles on it now....

I have a 2006 ram 4x4 quad cab 2.5 leveling kit by rough country plenty of wheel well space however rubs like crazy on A arm with 35 12.50 R 20s stock rims I ordered a 1.5 " spacer for the rims today I hope this fixes the issue it rubs constantly so something has to work otherwise goodbye 700 dollars for the front two tires they are mts. Hope this helps.
