Default Remote Start 2007 Ram 1500

I was told you can get the parts you need to have a factory remote start using the key fob. It calls for the new key fob, computer, and hood switch. I was given these numbers from a Dodge Tech who installs the keyless entries.
Wish he lived near. LOL

Welcome to the site. Sounds cheaper to just get an aftermarket alarm with RKE and RS.

I would be very careful here as the 2006 uses it's own kit and the 2007 kit has problems see TSB_08-018-07 and the 2008 is a factory option.

But for a 2007 Im showing Installation kit part number 82211214
includes harness, long-range antenna, key transponder interface, software cartridge, hood tilt switch, two mini one-button keyfobs, install and operating instructions and hardware

And base electronics module part number 82208859AB

No Dealer flash requred.

I checked into an OEM remote start for my 08 from the dealership. Was going to be 300 for the kit, 375 for the install, and 112/key.

I opted fro a SmartStart setup. I just use my iPhone to start it.

I guess the real question would be, If I go aftermarket is there a way to use a different type key so that I don't have to have the beast key and an extra remote?
I see there are 2 types of Sentry keys. 1 with the buttons and another for vehicles without keyless entry. Would that type key work?

I prefer that when women stare at my bulge I'm not competing with all my Keys,Key FoB and remote........

I think most guys with SKIM (sentry key interface module) either leave one key in the truck and hide it or use a bypass module to circumvent it.

Can you provide additional information regarding the SmartStart setup? I have a new Verizon iPhone coming in a few days and am interested in getting this done.

Smartstart is just a module that connects to an aftermarket starter. I'm using the Clifford system. BestBuy offers the Viper setup for 200-300 I think, if all else fails.

It just uses a cell modules to send signals to and from the car, has a $20/year subscription due to that, but it has unlimited range assuming it has a cell signal.

You can also use the standard alarm FOB with it, so you can get as much or as little of a security/starter system as you can afford.
