We need more information. Is he holding it in a lower gear allowing the engine to REV up a lot ?? It is more wear on the shifter linkage for no reason!! I personally think you should dump him if he has no more respect for you than to do something that annoys you. Do you think it would get better if you got married??

No it won't mess up the truck unless he's holding gears and revving the **** out of it. Bottom line is, it's your truck, make it clear that you don't want him to do that to YOUR truck.

^^Agreed^^ It's your truck and if he has a problem with that it's time to kick him to the curb. Besides I was always taught that it is better to let the trans shift on its own rather than manually shift it.Truthfully It really doesn't matter either way.

One of the only reasons to manually shift an automatic is mountain driving. And like someone else said this post is classic!! LOL ditch the boyfriend keep the truck!!! LOL

I often shifted down to 2nd, or sometimes even 1st, when driving in the snowy mountains when I lived in Germany. For daily driving on normal terrain/roads, let the transmission do what it was designed to do.

I'm still really interested in the pseudonym thing going on...
