Default Removing Tailgate

Alright, I have asked this before but I could not get the tailgate off!

How do I remove the tailgate off of my 2005 Ram 1500?

Last time people were saying to just pull it up?!

Can someone give me any hints on how to do this?

I feel like an idiot having to ask this again! Haha [sm=alcoholic.gif]

Open it up and look at each sides hinges. Notice how one side is flattend on the gate and the truck has a notch? Align the flat spot with the notch and pull up that side, then just slide the other end straight out. keep a good grip and get some help, she ain't light.

She's not super heavy either but she is quite deceiving her actual weight until you have her all the way off.

Open it up and feel around the right hinge. You'll feel a notch in the outside of the hinge toward the bottom.

Open it up around 1/3 to halfway, then pull out at that angle on the right side.

Once that side comes off, then just pull it to the right a little and it will come off the other hinge.

Don't forget to undue the cables first. I find it best to tape the cables to the inside of the tailgate to keep them
out of the way coming off and going back on.
